MANILA -- The National Bureau of Investigation has until the end of January to submit its final report on the bombings in Mindanao last Dec. 22, Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra said Wednesday.

While the NBI complied with his directive to come up with a report before the close of 2019, the perpetrators had not been identified, Guevarra said.

"The NBI field operatives are still working on it. I will give them another month to complete their probe and submit a final report," he said.

"We expect a progress report in January," he said.

At least 22 people were wounded in several blasts, which rocked Cotabato City and 2 other towns in the provinces of Cotabato and Maguindanao on Dec. 22, 2019.
