(UPDATED) More areas were placed under tropical cyclone warning signal no. 1 as tropical depression "Agaton" maintained its strength and posed a threat over Caraga region, state weather bureau PAGASA said Monday night.
In its 11 p.m. advisory, PAGASA said Agaton is currently packing maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour near the center and gusts of up to 60 kph.
Agaton was last spotted at 80 kilometers east of Surigao City, Surigao del Norte.
It is expected to move west northwest at 22 kph and is expected to make landfall over Caraga region late Monday night or early Tuesday morning.
Tropical cyclone warning signal no. 1 is raised over the following areas:
- Agusan del Norte
- Agusan del Sur
- Compostela Valley
- Davao del Norte
- Dinagat Island
- Lanao del Norte
- Lanao del Sur
- Misamis Occidental
- Misamis Oriental
- Southern Cebu
- Southern Leyte
- Southern Negros Occidental
- Southern Negros Oriental
- Surigao del Norte, including Siargao Island
- Surigao del Sur
- Zamboanga del Norte
PAGASA said the Visayas, Caraga, Davao region, Northern Mindanao, Zamboanga Peninsula, Lanao del Sur, Compostela Valley and Palawan will experience scattered to widespread moderate to heavy rains within 24 hours.
PAGASA warned residents of these affected areas against flooding and landslides.
