MANILA - More than 15 heavy equipment belonging to a hydro power plant in barangay Passi, Igbaras, Iloilo were torched by allegedly more than 100 members of the communist New People's Army (NPA) Sunday night.
The heavy equipment included backhoes, mixers, and dump trucks.
Cellphones and other belongings of workers of the power plant were also reported stolen.
An employee identified as "Noel" said 10 of them were inside their barracks when armed men entered their place and tied them using a packing tape.
Lieutenant Colonel Enrique Deocadez Jr., commander of the 82nd Infantry Battalion, believes that the attack is part of the NPA's celebration of its anniversary every December.
