CEBU CITY - A robber was arrested by a member of the Theft and Robbery Section (TRS) of Cebu City police following the reported latest hit of the suspect on a passenger of a public utility jeepney (PUJ) bound for Carbon Market in Cebu City, Tuesday.

Adonis Plahas, 26, purportedly pointed a long kitchen knife at Rizalita Cuyos, 39, and took the golden bracelet of the victim while the two were inside the PUJ.

Senior Police Officer 4 Isagani Pugoy, arresting officer, told ABS-CBN News that he saw the suspect get off the PUJ holding the bracelet in his left hand which prompted him to make the arrest.

Pugoy added that the suspect was pinned to the ground and mauled by people in the vicinity which caused the bruises on the suspect.

"Well, I couldn't stop them, they hated this man so much because he had so many victims," said Pugoy.

Plahas admitted the crime and blamed poverty for his actions.

"I did it because I was having problems with my family. I couldn't give them what they need. I am unemployed," Plahas said.

A long kitchen knife and a golden bracelet was reportedly recovered from the suspect.

The victim was rushed to a city hospital after suffering bruises and an arm laceration following the incident.

Robbery case against the suspect is set to be filed Wednesday.
