MANILA, Philippines - Tragedy struck a family in Malabanban Norte in Candelaria, Quezon after a 52-year-old security guard killed himself after seeing his daughter's "sexy" photos on Facebook.
Relatives of Buenaventura Ilagan said he was shocked after seeing photos of his 16-year-old daughter wearing a tube dress. The photos were posted on the social networking site Facebook and were seen by Ilagan's co-workers.
Ilagan's wife, Susan, said her husband was affected by the photos because of his conservative upbringing.
"Pinakita niya sa akin sa opisina. Pero hindi naman ganoon kalaswa," she said.
Teresa Sotelo of the local Violence Against Women desk also said the pictures were not obscene.
Last Sunday, Ilagan asked his wife and daughter to go out and buy something to eat. He then shot himself twice using his firearm.
"Pinalabas niya kami ng anak ko, sabi niya mamalengke muna kami. Ayaw pang sumama ng anak ko. Sabi ng asawa ko, 'Samahan mo Mama mo, bili kayo ng masarap na pagkain.' Paglabas ko, nakarinig na lang ako ng dalawang putok," Susan said.
Susan said her husband's death has brought additional problems since he is the lone breadwinner in the family. She said all 6 of her children may have to stop going to school.
Relatives said that while Ilagan's life can no longer be reclaimed, they want to find out who posted his daughter's photos on Facebook.
"Dapat matunton sino ang naglagay nito," said Erwin dela Vega, a relative of the victim. Report from Ernie Manio, ABS-CBN News
