MANILA – Desperate victims of typhoon "Yolanda" have successfully entered the Robinsons Place Tacloban in Leyte, a security official said.
Leo Ramos, a police colonel asked by JG Summit to secure the mall, said looters managed to enter the mall located in Abucay village on Sunday afternoon.
Ramos said he fired a warning shot but it did not scare the typhoon victims away.
An earlier clip also showed the looting at Gaisano mall in Tacloban City after the onslaught of super typhoon Yolanda as hundreds of residents took advantage of the breakdown in law and order out of despair.
Southern Leyte Rep. Roger Mercado also said he has received reports that people have also resorted to looting automated teller machines (ATMs) out of despair. – report from Ricky Velasco, dzMM
