BATANGAS – Governor Vilma Santos-Recto apologized to her constituents for failing to cast her votes in the recently concluded barangay election due to dental problem.
In a phone interview, the governor said she had to meet her dentist Monday morning (Oct.28) for the scheduled tooth surgery, prompting her to beg-off from the barangay election.
“I’m asking for an apology...I couldn’t vote. Though it’s my obligation, it's unfortunate that I've had this tooth infection for two weeks now. It’s bothering me so much so I need to have the procedure the soonest possible time,” Gov Vi said in a text message.
Gov Vi’s swollen cheek and difficulty speaking were evident since last week while she presided over some speaking engagements and meetings at the provincial capitol.
Meanwhile, her husband Senator Ralph Recto voted at Inosluban Elementary School in Barangay Inosluban, Lipa City around 1 p.m.
