26 flights cancelled due to 'Ofel'

MANILA, Philippines – With tropical storm “Ofel” continuing to threaten Visayas and southern Luzon, airlines have cancelled several flights due to bad weather.

According to the Manila International Airport Authority, a total of 26 flights have been cancelled as of this morning:

  • 2P 021 (Manila-Masbate), scheduled to depart at 5:50 a.m.
  • 2P 022 (Masbate-Manila), scheduled to depart at 8:40 a.m.
  • 5J 893 (Manila-Caticlan), scheduled to depart at 6:30 a.m.
  • 5J 894 (Caticlan-Manila), scheduled to depart at 8:40 a.m.
  • 5J 892 (Caticlan-Manila), scheduled to depart at 7:59 a.m.
  • 5J 781 (Manila-Ozamis), scheduled to depart at 6:05 a.m.
  • 5J 782 (Ozamis-Manila), scheduled to depart at 9:29 a.m.
  • 5J 771 (Manila-Pagadian), scheduled to depart at 7:05 a.m.
  • 5J 772 (Pagadian-Manila), scheduled to depart at 10:45 a.m.
  • 5J 920 (Caticlan-Manila), scheduled to depart at 9:05 a.m.
  • 5J 895 (Manila-Caticlan), scheduled to depart at 8:25 a.m.
  • 5J 898 (Caticlan-Manila), scheduled to depart at 11:00 a.m.
  • 5J 323 (Manila-Legaspi), scheduled to depart at 7:50 a.m.
  • 5J 324 (Legaspi-Manila), scheduled to depart at 10:20 a.m.
  • 5J 895 (Manila-Caticlan), scheduled to depart at 8:25 a.m.

  • Z2 260 (Masbate-Manila), scheduled to depart at 5:05 a.m.
  • Z2 261 (Manila-Masbate), scheduled to depart at 7:10 a.m.
  • Z2 202 (Manila-Marinduque), scheduled to depart at 12:10 a.m.
  • Z2 203 (Marinduque-Manila), scheduled to depart at 1:20 p.m.


Stranded passengers

Ports are also filling up with stranded passengers, as vessels have been prohibited from departing until public storm warning signals over their destinations are lowered.

In its latest advisory, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said that as of October 24, a total of 13,505 stranded passengers were reported stranded in different ports around the country.

Weather bureau PAGASA also warned fishing boats and other small sea craft not to venture out into the seaboards of Luzon and Visayas due to rough sea conditions.
