MANILA - Sara Duterte, the daughter of Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, denies that she is the reason why her father is not running for president.
This, after a supporter of her father posted a message online, asking her not to be selfish.
A certain Yiani Lopez Laguda accused Duterte of being selfish and hindering her father from running for president in the 2016 election.
Sara, fondly called "Inday" by her father, posted the message on Instagram, where she also answered the accusation.
"Do you think a wise man and a seasoned politician will decide on the basis of my opinion," Duterte said in her caption.
She also dared Laguda to stop using Facebook and to top her grades in the Bar exams, before talking.
The older Duterte on Monday clarified that he will not run for president in the 2016 elections.
He added that instead of seeking the presidency, he would rather retire from politics at the end of his term or even seek re-election if his daughter decides not to run for mayor of Davao City.
"I believe my destiny is to end years and years of public life in the service of Davao City and every Davaoeno. Thus, if Inday Sara agrees to run for mayor, I will retire at the end of my term in 2016. If she does not, the option to run again for mayor is on the table," he said.
