Leni Robredo's father passes away

MANILA – The father of Camarines Sur 3rd District Representative Maria Leonor "Leni" Robredo has passed away.

Robredo's father, retired Bicol Regional Trial Court Judge Antonio N. Gerona Sr., passed away at 8:45 a.m. on Thursday, a statement from the office of the lawmaker confirmed.

"We condole with the family, friends, and colleagues of Judge Gerona," read a statement from the office of Robredo, widow of former Interior Secretary Jesse Robredo.

"His accomplishments and contributions will forever be an influence to the Philippine Judicial System."

Gerona was a lawyer for 19 years before he was appointed as City Judge of the Municipal Trial Court in Cities Branch II on July 9, 1980.

He was appointed as Judge of Regional Trial Court Branch 28 in Naga City on January 30, 1987.

He also served as a professor of law at the University of Nueva Caceres since 1995.
