MANILA, Philippines - The local government of Bulacan is suing the National Power Corporation (Napocor) over the massive floods that have affected the province for days now.
Bulacan Governor Willy Alvarado said there is evidence Napocor's decision to release water from the Angat dam caused the massive flooding.
In Malacanang, Presidential Spokesperson Edwin Lacierda said “hindi pa po natin alam kung ano pong evidence ang hawak po ng Bulacan provincial officials or the Bulacan provincial government. So we have to wait and see their class suit to be filed.”
For now, Malacanang said it will stand by the statements of government officials as to what really caused the floods there.
More than 1,400 families are still in evacuation centers in Bulacan. Many of them are appealing for food, drinking water, medicine and other relief supplies.
“Ang nararating namin siguro nasa two-thirds, so meron silang tig-iisang supot ng relief goods. Di naman kumakain ng isang araw lang so kailangan pa natin ng maraming tulong,” he said. – with ANC
