MANILA - Two suspects in the abduction of three foreign nationals and a Filipina on Samal Island have been arrested, according to Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte.

Duterte said one of the suspects was identified as Bandajar Adona alias Banon. Adona was seen in the CCTV footage of the September 21 abduction in Ocean View Resort, he said.

"Naaresto is Bandajar Adona alias Banon. He was identified, nakuha yung mukha niya sa CCTV," Duterte said.

Authorities have also invited to go to Davao City two other people suspected of hiding the abductors before they kidnapped Canadian nationals John Ridsdel and Robert Hall, Norwegian resort manager Kjartan Sekkingstad and Filipina Maritess Flor.

Duterte, citing intelligence information, earlier said the victims have been taken to Sulu. Authorities later said they found a boat they suspect was used by the kidnappers on Jolo, Sulu.

The abductors have not asked for any ransom in exchange for the release of the victims. -- Reports from Francis Magbanua and Hernel Tocmo, ABS-CBN News Southern Mindanao
