Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolika Masjid or Grand Mosque

COTABATO CITY, Philippines  - As the whole world celebrates Eid ul-Fitr, thousands of Muslims in Cotabato City went to the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolika Masjid or Grand Mosque in Barangay Kalanganan, Cotabato City.

The mosque, the biggest of its kind in the country, was funded by Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei.

The mosque's stunning design and location amaze local tourists and non-Muslism who visit the place.

Tight security has been implemented by police and the military to ensure the safety of Muslims who attend the congregational prayer.

Meantime, 18 roasted calves were sliced into pieces and distributed to all who attended the congregational prayer at the Office of the Regional Governor compound.

Prominent people and local officials in Cotabato City are also having a "open house" with lots of food for all their friends, neighbors, and relatives.

It is a Muslim tradition that is also similar to the Christmas and New Year celebrations of Catholics.
