700 families in La Union flee their homes

MANILA, Philippines – More than 700 families in La Union were evacuated after raging floods submerged several houses.

Authorities said roads from Pugo to Agoo are still closed to traffic due to road cuts and mud left by flashfloods.

Earlier, 7 residents of Tubao, La Union were stranded as the river in the area overflowed.

The residents have been rescued and are now in safe condition.

A fisherman from Luna, La Union was reported missing. Search and rescue operations in the area are ongoing.

La Union was placed under storm signal number 1 as Typhoon “Mina” continued to batter northern Luzon. -- Report from Maira Wallis, ABS-CBN Ilocos
