CAGAYAN DE ORO, Philippines - Police are now looking for a young couple for allegedly burying a 7-month-old fetus near the Cagayan de Oro River on Monday morning.

Buddies Johnrey Rainier and Daniel Galario, who were both swimming in the river, said the young couple arrived on a motorcycle.

Rainier said that he did not pay too much attention to the couple because he thought the 2 were just on a date.

"Akala ko nag-date lang sila kaya hindi ko masyadong pinansin," Rainer told ABS-CBN News.

Rainer and Galario also saw the couple burying something near the river and then left.

"Hinukay namin. Naku! Bata pala," Galario said.

Senior Police Officer 4 Virgilio Tonido, deputy chief of the Macasandig police sub-station, said they are now looking for the young couple.

Tonido said the couple would be charged for abortion.

He said that they have recorded a few abortion cases in the city, and majority of those involved are students.

Police and residents placed the 7-month-old fetus in a box and named it Angel Agosto before properly burying it in a cemetery. -- Report from Sheila Joy Labrador, ABS-CBN Cagayan de Oro
