At least 83 barangays in Pampanga were submerged in floods due to heavy rains on Monday.

The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said Mabalacat City and the towns of Guagua, Sta. Ana, Masantol, Macabebe, Sasmuan and Minalin were flooded due to rains brought by the southwest monsoon that was enhanced by tropical storm “Ferdie.”

Local officials said the remains of Noel Tuazon, 15, was found floating at a portion of Pampanga River in Masantol town on Sunday.

Tuazon’s friends said the victim suddenly dove into the river while on board a boat last Saturday.

Tuazon was then swept away by strong water current.

In Guagua, authorities said the Sapang Maragul dike may collapse due to the overflowing of water.

Water lilies also clogged the flow of water along a river in Barangay Sto. Rosario, Sta. Ana town, resulting in flooding and destruction of roads.

The stuck water lilies were removed Monday night. – reports from Jayvie Dizon, ABS-CBN News Pampanga
