MANILA (UPDATED) - A huge explosion rocked an old motor factory in Barangay Hulo in Pilila, Rizal Wednesday evening.
The explosion started a fire inside the old LGS Motor Factory compound in Sitio Combo that was allegedly being used as a warehouse for ammunition.
A warehouse on the compound had been examined by the Bureau of Fire and was found compliant with safety requirements.
According to Rizal Provincial Director Police Senior Superintendent Bernabe Balba, the fire was reported at around 7:20 p.m. and was put under control before 10 p.m.
It also caused a temporary blackout in both towns of Pililia and Tanay.
Authorities found some chemicals inside the compound that may have caused the explosion.
