Rebels kill 2 Army men in Batangas

BATANGAS, Philippines - Two Army men were ambushed and killed by suspected New People's Army (NPA) guerillas in Calatagan, Batangas, Wednesday morning.

Col. Leo Baladad, commander of the Philippine Army's 202nd Infantry Brigade, identified the fatalities as Privates Dennis Fajelga and Hinkil Carasco, members of the 16th Infantry Battalion.

Baladad said the 2 Army personnel, on board a motorcycle, were on their way to a public market when they were waylaid by an undetermined number of rebels in Barangay Lucsuhin around 11:20 a.m..
