MANILA – A minor was killed while three others were wounded in a knife attack in Bongabon, Nueva Ecija on Friday morning.
Jaselliet Wakit, 13, died after being stabbed at least 16 times by former traffic enforcer Isidro Bulandos, who allegedly had a relationship with her grandmother.
Wounded in the attack were Wakit's grandmother, Juliet, 51; and her two siblings, aged 8 and 7.
Bongabon deputy chief Insp. Alexander Pranada said one of the siblings said they heard noises from the victim's room. When they went to check on their sister, they saw the suspect stabbing her.
Bulandos then went on to attack the other victims.
The suspect apparently wanted to reach a settlement with the family after he was charged of molesting the eldest Wakit sibling last May.
''Lumapit sa pamilya para aregluhin eh ayaw ata ng pamilya. Ayun na ang ikina-depress ng suspek kaya nagawa ang krimen,” Pranada said.
The grandfather of the victims, Bobby Sooc, was shocked by what happened to his loved ones, especially with Jaselliet, who will celebrate her birthday next month.
“Masakit. Parang 'di ko kayang isipin…Gusto ko talaga hustisya para sa kanila,” he said.
The knife used in the attack was found at the crime scene, but the suspect managed to escape.
