Bukidnon town under state of calamity due to landslides

MANILA - A state of calamity has been declared in the town of Kibawe in Bukidnon after incessant rains triggered landslides in eight villages.

One of the hardest hit areas is Magsaysay, where roads were badly damaged, affecting travel and the transportation of goods.

The other villages affected by the landslides are:

Balintawak,
Sampaguita,
Kisawa,
Pinamula,
Sanipon,
Talahiron, and
Marapangi.

The village of White Kulaman in Kitaotao town was also affected.

The local government said the affected residents will be transferred to safer areas.

Authorities estimate the cost of damage caused by the landslides at P5 million. -- Report from Shiela Joy Labrador, ABS-CBN News Northern Mindanao
