MANILA, Philippines – Severe floods inundated homes in Big Margus in Glan, Sarangani province on Tuesday, forcing many residents to wade through floods and relocate.

Authorities said two people have died while one fisherman was rescued. The two victims have yet to be identified.

Over 100 families from 5 barangays were affected by the floods.

Some roads and bridges were also destroyed.

One of the residents, Maxima Padapat, said water levels suddenly went up Tuesday morning following a night of heavy downpours.

Aside from the rains, strong waves and winds also triggered the rise of water levels.

Village councilor Ibaresto Buhian said many residents panicked when water levels rose.

The children were the first to be brought to the barangay hall and a truck terminal, which now serve as evacuation centers.

The municipal government, meanwhile, assured residents that help is on the way. -- Report from Jay Dayupay, ABS-CBN News SOKSARGEN; ANC
