NEGROS OCCIDENTAL -- Five college students were rushed to the hospital Tuesday afternoon after they were stung by bees.

Sr. Supt. Samuel Nacion, director of the Negros Occidental Provincial Police, said the students were from different schools and were in La Carlota City to do some research.

They were suddenly attacked by the bees while they were walking the trail at Guintubdan Natural Park in Barangay Ara-al.

According to Dr. Seliberty Cartel of Don Salvador Benedicto Memorial District Hospital, the students were subjected to laboratory tests due to allergic reactions.

All five students have been released from the hospital. The person in charge of their research refused to comment on the incident.

Cartel said being stung by bees may be dangerous if the patient has an allergic reaction to the sting.
