MANILA - A 27-year-old female mountaineer who went missing while trekking Mount Banahaw with her friends Friday morning was found Monday.

Niña Gacutan, a call center agent and a resident of Quiapo, Manila, was found by rescuers in Dolores, Quezon, Monday afternoon.

She had wounds on her arms and legs.

Gacutan reportedly got lost on the mountain trail and spent a night in a cave because of heavy rains.

Police will take temporary custody of Gacutan.

Her companions, Artemio Lago and Noel Ong, said they trekked Mt. Banahaw last May 23 together with their guide, Roberto Viaro, and stayed there until early morning of May 25, Sunday.
While on their way down, Lago and Ong said Gacutan went missing when she couldn't keep up with the group.

According to the Dolores Municipal Environment Office, the four were trespassing because they entered a protected area, which has been declared a no-entry zone to climbers since 2004 due to its deteriorating condition. - report from Johnny Glorioso, dzMM
