4 dead, 4 hurt in SCTEX mishap

MANILA, Philippines – Four people were killed while 4 others were hurt in a road accident at the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) in the vicinity of Porac, Pampanga Tuesday afternoon.

Authorities said the victims, who were all passengers of a Ford Expedition (XKW-985), were headed to Subic when the accident occurred.

The fatalities were identified as Dr. Richard Quilang, 43; Mariel Ocampo, 12; John Rod Ryan Martin, 14; and Criselda Rivero. All were residents of Gagalangin, Tondo, Manila.

The injured victims, identified as Marian Jill Quilang, 13; Mary Joy Quilang, 41; Joyce Quilang, 15; and Rensie Ann Sabanyan, 12, were rushed to Peninsula Dinalupihan Hospital in Bataan.

Witnesses said a blown front tire caused the vehicle to roll over 3 times.

The impact caused one of the passengers to be thrown off the vehicle and hit the expressway's barrier, according to the witnesses.
