At least P15 million worth of properties and products were damaged when fire struck two business establishments in downtown Sucabon, Zamboanga City on Monday.

The blaze started at the Viva Cinema movie theater, located beside the city's fire station.

The flames quickly spread to another adjacent building, the Unisales local merchandising store.

Firefighters had difficulty putting out the fire due to the thick smoke.

The Bureau of Fire Protection raised the alert level to General Alarm, and took four hours to extinguish the blaze.
