MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) on Sunday said it detected 4 volcanic quakes from the restive Mount Bulusan in Sorsogon in the past 24 hours.
Phivolcs recorded 11 volcanic quakes after Mount Bulusan spewed ash on Friday morning.
The agency said the public must still remain vigilant, saying an ash explosion is still possible.
Mount Bulusan’s status remains at Alert Level 1.
Despite the danger, local tourists continue to flock to various hot and cold spring resorts in Irosin, with some of them merely shrugging off the threat of the volcano spewing ash.
Raul Hugo, an administration officer of the San Benon Hot Spring Resort, said the area has been spared from the volcano’s last ash explosion. –Report from Eric Baldo, ABS-CBN Naga
