MANILA, Philippines (Update) - Technical glitches marred Sunday's test of the consolidation and canvassing system (CCS) for the automated election in Ivana, Batanes.
The CCS will be placed at the municipal and provincial canvassing centers, which will transmit results to different servers during the May 10 elections.
The process, which should have taken only a few minutes, took 3 hours because Smartmatic-TIM machines could not find a signal using the broadband global area network. It was later discovered that the technician of the satellite provider failed to register the SIM that was being used with the PCOS machine.
The test only pushed through after ABS-CBN cameraman, Val Cuenca, taught the Smartmatic-TIM technician how to set up the equipment.
A separate transmission test also suffered a 4-hour delay in Basco, Batanes, where they used a DSL modem.
