MANILA, Philippines – The bodies of three family members were found dead by residents in the town of Zaragoza, Nueva Ecija on Wednesday morning.

The victims were identified as Fernandito de Guzman, his wife Rosalinda and 21-year-old son Norie.

De Guzman's hands were in cuffs when his body was found.

Investigations showed that de Guzman was headed to a bus terminal when he was abducted by 3 armed men who introduced themselves as agents of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).

De Guzman’s wife and son were then picked up from their home and forced to board a van.

When the van approached Barangay Mayamot, the 3 were shot, authorities said.

NBI, however, denied that they were conducting an operation in the area.

Property dispute?

The victim’s family suspects that the incident may have something to do with a property owned by de Guzman.

“’Yung kasing parents ko, may pinahawakan sa kanilang lupa ‘yung lola ko na more or less 300 hectares na involved ang maraming magsasaka,” said Fernandito Jr., a son of the victim.

Police are also investigating an alleged estafa case involving de Guzman’s wife Rosalie. -- Report from Cris Zuñiga, ABS-CBN News Dagupan
