PALAWAN, Philippines – The death toll in the diarrhea outbreak in Palawan has risen to 20, officials said.
The local government of Bataraza, Palawan is now giving medical attention to 29 residents suffering from diarrhea.
The diarrhea outbreak has affected 98 people since early March, health authorities said.
The Department of Health (DOH) has sent a medical team to treat other patients with diarrhea, whose symptoms include excessive thirst, difficulty in breathing, and loss of voice.
Reports said most of the victims were members of a tribe in Sitio Apad-apad, Barangay Culandum who drink water from streams that may have been contaminated with bacteria due to rains and flooding. With a report from Kori Quintos, ABS-CBN News Palawan
