MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) -- An explosion on a speedboat owned by actor-TV host Aga Muhlach left one person hurt in Camarines Sur on Saturday.

The boat's pilot, identified as Jerome Pervera, sustained injuries in his face, leg and back from the said explosion. He is expected to be released from the hospital Sunday.

Muhlach and his family were not on the boat at the time of the explosion.

The blast occurred past 6 a.m. in the vicinity of Gota Village Resort in the municipality of Caramoan.

Initial findings say the boat's engine and gas tank ignited, causing it to explode. Investigations are still ongoing, as of posting.

According to Muhlach's camp, gubernatorial candidate Miguel "Migz" Villafuerte used the same speedboat to make rounds in Caramoan on Friday.

Muhlach, a former Kapamilya actor, is running for a congressional seat representing the fourth district of Camarines Sur in the May polls.

Muhlach and his wife Charlene have been secured in an undisclosed location where they are being given updates on the blast. With a report from Jonathan Magistrado, ABS-CBN News
