MANILA - A regional trial court in the province of Batangas has allowed University of the Philippines (UP) student Maricon Montajes and two other detainees to post bail Tuesday.

The Rosario Regional Trial Court reached its decision after it found insufficient evidence to prosecute Montajes, and two other detainees - Anakbayan member Ronilo Baes and farmer Rommiel Canete.

Dubbed the "Taysan 3," they have been detained in the Batangas Provincial Jail since 2010 after being captured by military agents in Mabayabas, Taysan, Batangas, where Montajes was doing research for her thesis.

Both Montajes and Canete's bail are pegged at P400,000, while Baes has to pay P500,000 for his temporary freedom.

They were charged with illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, illegal possession of explosives, and violation of the firearms ban.
