SOUTH COTABATO -- Police seized more than two kilos of suspected "shabu" (methamphetamine hydrochloride) in a raid in Barangay Ambalgan, Sto. Nino, South Cotabato on Wednesday.

The confiscated shabu has an estimated street value of P25 million.

Authorities, however, failed to arrest the target of the raid, Johnny Mantawil.

Based on information, Mantawil fled from his house with his wife, Fatima, minutes before the raid.

Also recovered were a caliber .45 pistol and several bullets.

Barangay Ambalgan is notorious for illegal drug trade, and Mantawil is a suspected drug pusher who has suppliers from Maguindanao and Sarangani, police said.

In January, authorities also confiscated P1.3 million worth of shabu in Barangay Ambalgan. -- report from Rean Hacosta, ABS-CBN News SOKSARGEN
