Comelec sets sked for ARMM voters' registration

MANILA, Philippines - Voters’ registration in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) is set to resume beginning March 21, 2011 until March 31, 2011, the Commission on Elections announced Tuesday.

In a resolution, the COMELEC en banc said any Filipino citizen residing in the Provinces of Basilan (except Isabela City), Sulu, Tawi-tawi, Maguindanao (except Cotabato City) and Lanao del Sur, may register as voters in the 10-day registration period.

Elections in the ARMM will be held on August 8, 2011.

“Applications for registration, transfer of registration records, change/correction of entries in the registration records, reactivation of registration records and inclusion of registration records/reinstatement of name in the list of voters, shall be personally filed beginning March 21, 2011 to March 31, 2011 at the Office of the Election Officer (OEO) of the City/Municipality where the applicants resides, from Monday to Saturday, inclusive of Holidays during regular office hours at 8:00 o’clock A.M. to 5:00 o’clock P.M.,” the COMELEC stated in Resolution 9144, promulgated February 11, 2011.

COMELEC Spokesman James Jimenez said those who wish to register should bring the following identification documents:

• Current employee’s identification card (ID), with the signature of employers or authorized representative;

•    Postal ID;
•    Student’s ID or Library Card, signed by the school authority;
•    Senior Citizen’s ID;
•    Driver’s License;
•    NBI/PNP Clearance;
• Passport;
•    SSS/GSIS ID;
•    IBP ID;
•    PRC ID or any other valid ID.

Jimenez said community tax certificates (Cedula) or certifications/identification cards issued by the Barangay shall not be honored as valid identification documents.
