MANILA – Two firemen came to the rescue of a pregnant woman who gave birth beside a mahogany tree in Pangasinan.
Firemen Andrew Gaongen and Genard Ruizan of the Bureau of Fire Protection of San Manuel saw a bloodied woman standing beside a tree and carrying a baby around 11:30 a.m.
When they approached the woman identified as Chrysel Viado from Gueset Norte, San Manuel, they found out that she had just given birth.
"Nakita namin kaya pinakalma ko yung nanay at pareho na silang nilalamig," said Gaongen.
Gaongen took his shirt off and wrapped the newborn baby with it while Ruizan called for an ambulance.
"Nakita namin kaya immediate rescue ang ginawa namin," said Ruizan.
Viado said she came from a nearby town when her water suddenly broke and she gave birth alone beside the tree.
Viado is thankful for the help of the firemen. She and child were brought to the hospital. Her baby boy whom she named Alex weighed 3.1 kilos. Report from Joanna Tacasaon, ABS-CBN News.
