MANILA, Philippines - A small plane piloted by 2 flying school students crashed at an airport in Pangasinan province on Tuesday morning.
Senior Superintendent Rosueto Ricaforte, Pangasinan provincial police director, said the plane (RP-C8204) owned by the Fast Flying School crashed at the Lingayen Airport at around 10 a.m..
Ricaforte said student pilots John Mirasol and Japhit Chua were able to jump out of plane before it burst into flames.
He said initial investigations showed that the plane's crash was caused by "mechanical defects."
The student pilots were brought to a community hospital in Lingayen town. -- Report from Noel Alamar, radio dzMM
