2 PAF pilots killed in Batangas plane crash

MANILA (UPDATED) – Two pilots of the Philippine Air Force (PAF) died after their training plane crashed in waters off Nasugbu, Batangas on Saturday morning.

Nasugbu Police Chief Insp. Pablo Aguda identified the fatalities as 1st Lt. Nazer Jana and Capt. John Bayao.

The pilots were conducting practice air exhibition for the scheduled celebration of Nasugbu's Liberation Day when their SF-260 plane crashed 150 meters away from the shoreline of Barangay Bucana at 9:45 a.m.

Aguda said the bodies of the pilots were retrieved in the water about 20 meters deep and immediately brought to Manila.

PAF spokesperson Col. Rico Canaya said they have yet to determine the cause of the plane crash.
