MANILA - Former Rodriguez, Rizal Mayor Pedro Sanguyo Cuerpo is facing a case of usurpation of official function before the Sandiganbayan over his alleged unlawful issuance of permit to operate private vehicles.

On the information filed by the Office of the Ombudsman, Cuerpo on October 4, 2006 allegedly issued a temporary permit to operate to private vehicles, allowing them to function as public utility vehicles in the municipality.

The Ombudsman said fees had been charged for the said permits.

The charge also stated that Cuerpo took advantage of his official function as municipal mayor and "willfully, unlawfully and feloniously usurped the official functions of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board."
