MANILA - A barangay councilor in Talipao, Sulu and his men were attacked by around 30 suspected members of the Abu Sayyaf Group on Saturday, authorities said.

The armed men, believed to be under sub-leaders Angga Adji and Rogr Saji, fired shots at the group of Barangay Kiyutaan Councilor Lakim Uddin Saturday morning, resulting in a firefight between the two groups.

The firefight lasted for almost 10 minutes, authorities said.

A certain Akmad Aburan from Uddin's group was slightly wounded in the clash.

There was no reported casualty from the side of the terrorist group, which fled toward the direction of Barangay Bungkaong.

Police said Uddin and Adji have a long standing family feud. -- Report from Queenie Casimiro, ABS-CBN News Zamboanga
