MANILA -- A 4-year-old child was trapped in a swimming pool in Davao City after his hand got stuck in the pool's vacuum.
According to rescuers, the child was left swimming alone in the swimming pool of a popular resort when the incident happened Friday night.
Workers of the resort had to pump water out of the pool before the child can be rescued. They even tried to knock down a part of the pool just to take the child's hand out of the vacuum.
They also applied lotion and oil on his hand in an attempt to pull it out of the vacuum.
According to one of the rescuers, they had to resort to traditional rescue methods to ensure the child's safety and prevent further damage.
Once the child was free, he was immediately brought to the hospital for treatment.
Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte visited the hospital to check on the victim.
The management of the resort refused to comment on the incident. -- Report from Rodirey Salas, ABS-CBN News Southern Mindanao
