MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Coast Guard has recovered 2 more bodies from the ill-fated MV Catalyn B that sank off Limbones Island in Cavite province last December 24.
Lt. Commander Arman Balilo, PCG spokesman, said the bodies were recovered Tuesday, bringing to 24 the total number of bodies recovered from the vessel. Authorities believe a total of 27 passengers drowned after the vessel's sinking last December.
Balilo said one of the victims had long hair and had a heart-shaped watch on her left wrist. The girl was also wearing Lee Pipes jeans, a maroon shirt and dark green sweater.
The bodies were brought to Ambassador Funeral Homes for identification.
The Maritime Industry Authority (Marina) earlier said it would pursue the phase-out of wooden-hulled vessels, or those types of ships that have figured in a series of sea mishaps since last year including the MV Catalyn B.
