Fire hits Manila Zoo

MANILA (UPDATE) - Fire hit a part of Manila Zoo in Malate, Manila on Tuesday evening.

According to a post by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Twitter, the fire reached second alarm at about 9:51 p.m.

Senior Fire 0fficer 2 Enrico Cruz of Manila's Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said the fire razed the ticketing booth and the canteen near the entrance of the zoo.

Based on initial investigation, an electric stove used by stay-in zookeepers started the fire.

No casualties were reported. About P100,000 worth of properties were lost to the fire.

The fire was declared out as of 10:04 p.m. - with a report from Jeff Gallos, DZMM
