MANILA (UPDATED) - Mall operators have agreed with a proposal from the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority to adjust mall hours to ease traffic during the holidays.
Malls will now be open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. instead of 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
The new schedule will take effect from November 28, 2014 to January 3, 2015.
SM Supermalls, in a Facebook post Friday, said three SM malls are adjusting operating hours.
The malls are SM City North Edsa, SM Megamall, and SM Mall of Asia.
It added that all of its supermarkets will maintain their usual operating hours.
MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino earlier proposed an "open late, close late" adjustment in the operating hours of malls as a way to ease traffic congestion during the Christmas season. With a report by Maan Macapagal, ABS-CBN News
