MANILA -- The Metro Manila Council on Wednesday held a meeting with Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Francis Tolentino and Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa on how to help areas destroyed by super typhoon "Yolanda."

The mayors of the 17 cities and municipalities in Metro Manila decided to adopt two affected areas each, based on the number of casualties and economic damage.

Aside from immediate relief, the sponsoring city or municipality will also assist in the rehabilitation of the sponsored area.

The council also decided that each should send a 10-man team to assist in the search and retrieval operations in the provinces of Samar and Leyte.
