MANILA, Philippines (2nd UPDATE) – A woman died after jumping off a building in Ortigas, Pasig City on Tuesday morning.

Initial police report said the woman, identified as Josephine Maranan, jumped off the rooftop of the 27-floor Prestige Tower located along Garnet Road in Barangay San Antonio at around 9 a.m.

Maranan, 45, was a resident of Sampaloc, Manila and an employee of a spare parts company. A visitor's pass of the Prestige Tower was found in her possession.

Barangay authorities said some building personnel tried but failed to stop the woman from jumping off the building. The building employees said Maranan was acting hysterical before the incident.

Jason Magsino, an employee from a nearby building, said he was about to cross the road when the woman fell in front of him.

The woman was beyond recognition, as she got decapitated after the fall, and her body was mangled.

Authorities have yet to determine the reason behind Maranan's suicide. – report from Arnell Ozaeta, dzMM
