MANILA, Philippines – Police are investigating the slaying of a maintenance staff inside a bookstore in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.

The victim, Jerry Mamayabay, was found dead with a stab wound inside a Fully Booked branch at the Bonifacio High Street Monday morning.

According to a statement from Ayala Malls, the Philippine National Police (PNP) and Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) immediately conducted an investigation after Mamayabay’s body was found.

Ayala Malls, which manages Bonifacio High Street, also said closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras inside the store are being reviewed.

Fully Booked’s management, meanwhile, said they are cooperating with Taguig Police in the investigation.

They have yet to determine the motive behind the killing of their staff, who they described as “a good man who served the company for many years.”

“We would like you to know that the safety of our customers, our staff, and our stores are of the highest importance to us and we will do all that we can to protect them,” Fully Booked said in a statement.

The store was closed Monday morning after the body was discovered, but operations resumed later in the day.

The multi-level Fully Booked store is located at the heart of Bonifacio High Street, an upscale commercial and business complex.
