MANILA, Philippines - Former actress and starlet Katrina Paula is now the subject of a manhunt by the Philippine National Police after being charged with car theft.

The PNP-Highway Patrol Group said Paula, Angeline Samonte in real life, has personal ties to a “highly-organized carjacking syndicate" led by Raymond Dominguez.  Paula was identified as Dominguez's live-in partner.

The PNP-Highway Patrol Group, led by Chief Superintendent Leonardo Espina, raided Dominguez's condominium unit at Palo Verde Condominium in Mandaluyong City last November 2 after receiving a tip that members of the syndicate were holed up there. The raid was conducted on the basis of a search warrant issued by Mandaluyong Regional Trial Court Branch 213 Judge Carlos Valenzuela.

Dominguez and Paula were not at the condominium at the time of the raid. Authorities, however, recovered 6 stolen vehicles including a Hyundai Santa Fe owned by former Labor Undersecretary Dionisio dela Cerna.

The other recovered vehicles were a BMW, Mazda 3, Mitsubishi Montero and an Isuzu pick-up.

Authorities also recovered stolen license plates and car registrations, two white face masks, rolls of duct tape and hand gloves at the condo unit.

The PNP said there is a P500,000 reward for any information that will lead to the arrest of Dominguez.

Aside from car theft cases, Dominguez is also facing charges for attempted murder, rape, and illegal possession of firearms.
