Four people including an elderly woman were injured while three vehicles were damaged after a billboard along Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (EDSA) fell during heavy rains Monday afternoon.
An initial radio dzMM report said the billboard started creaking and fell on top of the St. Jude Transit bus terminal on Liberty Avenue corner EDSA's southbound lane around 2:30 p.m.
Three vehicles including a jeepney were damaged after being hit by metal bars from the fallen billboard. The billboard also toppled two electric transformers near the bus terminal.
The accident has temporarily barred St. Jude Transit buses from leaving the terminal.
As of posting time, policemen and barangay officials have arrived at the scene to assess the damage.
Sen. Miriam Defensor Santiago earlier called for a ban on outsized billboards after a toppled billboard killed a driver on EDSA at the height of Typhoon Milenyo in October 2006.
