MANILA - Weather bureau PAGASA on Thursday said a thunderstorm is currently affecting Metro Manila and may persist for the next two hours.
In its 4:33 p.m. advisory, PAGASA said affected areas include San Juan, Mandaluyong, Manila, Marikina in Metro Manila; Antipolo, Teresa and Tanay in Rizal and some portions of Bulacan and Pampanga.
"Expect thunderstorm in other areas of MetroManila, Rizal within the next 2 hours. All are advised to take precautionary measures against heavy rains, strong winds, lightning and possible flash floods. Keep monitoring for updates," PAGASA said.
Last Tuesday, heavy rains caused flash floods and stranded thousands of motorists on EDSA and other roads in Metro Manila. Some opted to walk home
State weather bureau PAGASA said it monitored 61 mm of rain in its Science Garden station from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. last Tuesday.
ABS-CBN's resident meteorologist Alvin Pura said this amount of rain dumped at a very short period of time is enough to flood low-lying areas.
