3 Japanese arrested for smuggling P50 million

MANILA -- Three Japanese nationals were arrested for smuggling an estimated P50 million cash, in dollars and yen, at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Thursday night.

The suspects were identified as Zusuki Yuso, Takayachi Buszi and Tarashami Zeyta.

The three suspects, on board Japan Airlines flight JAL-745, landed at the NAIA Terminal 1 past 10 p.m.

They were met by a Filipino, Mary Grace Portugues. She is an employee of one of the men who has a company named Sorriso Philippines in Global City, Taguig.

Customs intelligence agent Rogelio Cunanan said prior to the three's arrival, the Japanese Customs Bureau had already alerted them about three Japanese nationals carrying a large amount of money. -- Report from Jake Morales, dzMM
