MANILA (UPDATE 8) -- Due to incessant rains brought about by tropical storm “Maring,” several cities across Metro Manila and other provinces have cancelled classes for Monday, August 19.

* Caloocan -- All levels, both private and public

* Las Pinas – All levels, both private and public

* Makati – All levels, both public and private

* Malabon – No classes in all levels

* Mandaluyong – No classes pre-school to high school, both public and private

* Manila -- All levels, both private and public

* Marikina -- All levels, both private and public

* Muntinlupa – All levels, both private and public

* Pasay – No classes from pre-school to high school

* Pasig - No classes in all levels

* Pateros -- No classes in all levels, both private and public

* Paranaque – No classes in all levels

* San Juan -- No classes in all levels

* Taguig – All levels, both private and public

* Valenzuela -- No classes from pre-school to high school

* Navotas -- No classes from pre-school to high school

* Montalban, Rizal - No classes in all levels, both private and public 

- No classes for Wawang Pulo Elementary School and Wawang Pulo National High School; Pasolo Elementary School; and Caruhatan National High School

- No classes for Bulacan State University

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) extended on Monday its red rainfall warning over Metro Manila and other areas.

In its advisory issued at 6:15 a.m., PAGASA said heavy to intense rains will affect Metro Manila, Bataan, Zambales, Pampanga, Rizal, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Tarlac, Bulacan, Occidental Mindoro and Northern Quezon for the next 3 hours. 

Meanwhile moderate to heavy rains affecting Nueva Ecija and the rest of Quezon will most likely to continue for the next 3 hours. 

"SEVERE FLOODING is expected. ALL are advised to take precautionary measures," PAGASA said. 

There are also no classes in Quezon City, which celebrates Quezon City Day on August 19.
